Verdict. Eternal AI is the only AI character app on my list that hands you a character instead of a catalog, and that opening works better than I expected. The text is free enough to judge the writing before your first dollar, the video really is rendered, and the Plays are the first genuine campaign format I have seen in this category. Against that stand four stacked counters made of Diamonds, per-character tiers, reveals and gifts, an all-sales-are-final attitude and legal pages that contradict themselves on encryption. Grade C−.

I had never tested an AI character app that asked me first what I actually wanted. This Eternal AI review started with a matchmaker character called Lucy asking me six questions before I had seen a single profile, and then putting exactly one companion in front of me, who walked in mid-sentence. As a game master I know the opposite of that, namely forty minutes of scrolling through character cards, and this was the most pleasant opening I have had all year.

Eternal AI runs in the browser and as an app in both stores, and it does not sell an ordinary monthly subscription. It sells Diamonds in packs from $0.99 and lets you pay for individual photos, short video clips, gifts and per-character tiers out of that balance. Every single item looks harmless. After a week with the same character the total looks different, and under the refund rule none of it comes back.

I played my three fixed scenes: the tavern for loose conversation, the interrogation where the character has to hold a position against me, and the quiet evening where nothing happens on purpose. Then the memory test on day seven, where my character no longer knew that my cat is called Pixel, even though the relationship level had wandered two names further along in the meantime. After that the legal pages, once in the web version and once in the separate one for iOS, and that is exactly where the unpleasant part starts.

All prices below are in US dollars, exactly as the checkout bills them; what lands on your statement depends on your card and your local sales tax. Checked on October 1, 2026. What I could not confirm is marked as not confirmed, because the Eternal AI top-up screen only appears after you log in.

What is Eternal AI?

In one paragraph

Eternal AI is an AI character app for adults only. The web terms of service name the Estonian company EternalAI Labs OÜ in Tallinn, while the Google Play listing names Eternal AI Limited in Hong Kong as the developer. Instead of a library you browse, a character called Lucy matches you with a companion after a short questionnaire; after that you write text, listen to voice messages, unlock generated photos and short clips and play user-built interactive stories called Plays. You do not pay a monthly price but with Diamonds, an internal currency sold in packs from $0.99 to $199.99, which also pays for weekly or monthly per-character tiers. It runs in the browser, on iOS and on Android, and the same brand also operates its own crypto token and an image and video interface with a separate balance.

How I tested Eternal AI

I followed my fixed protocol. Week one on free access, in the browser and in the iOS app in parallel, because the daily reward is doubled in the app and the website pushes you there anyway. After that the smallest Diamond pack and a weekly tier for one character, paid with my own card. Then my three scenes, two sessions each, three personal details dropped on the first evening and asked about on day seven. On top of that photos and video, gifts from all four tiers, one Play from start to finish, the Imagine builder and every legal page the platform publishes, including its separate version for the app store build.

  • Access checked: Free access, the smallest Diamond pack and a weekly tier for one character, paid with my own card
  • Free access: Daily text allowance per character, a first premium week with your first companion (unlimited text, up to ten photos or two clips), a daily check-in that pays Diamonds, doubled in the app
  • Three scenes: Tavern, interrogation, quiet evening, two sessions each, once with the matched character and once with one I built myself in Imagine
  • Memory test: Three details placed on the first evening (the cat's name, my job, one dislike), asked about on day seven; one came back, two did not
  • Media checked: Photo and video unlocks in the chat, voice messages, gifts in the Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary tiers
  • Documents read: Web terms of service and privacy policy, the separate iOS versions of both texts, the pricing and refund rule, the content policy, the community guidelines, the disclaimer
  • Stores checked: The Google Play listing (3.1 stars from 202 reviews, rated 17+, over 10,000 installs, updated September 21, 2026) and the App Store listing (4.0 stars from 81 ratings, 18+, version 3.3.11)
  • Not tested with my own card: The Closer and Deep Connection tiers on monthly billing and the announced Her Home voice device; both appear here as described, not as checked

What Eternal AI gets right

Matchmaking through Lucy is the best opening in the category

The questionnaire wants to know who you want to meet, which age range, which look, which basic mood, how explicit it may get and which dynamic you are after. What arrives next fits those answers, and it arrives with a scene already running instead of an empty text box. Anyone coming from a library with ten thousand cards notices immediately how much decision fatigue disappears. In some other tests the same feature is called Cupid; what they mean is exactly this questionnaire.

The text is free enough to judge the writing

You can talk to a matched character without a card, the first week with your first companion runs at premium level, and the daily check-in pushes Diamonds at you just for showing up. Writing is the core of this app: characters set their own pace, send several bubbles one after another and do not automatically go along when I push as the game master. Whether that style suits you is something you find out without paying anything.

The video really is animated, and the face stays the same

Most AI character apps print video on the plan card and then deliver a shimmer over a still image. Here you get short, genuinely moving clips, and the face belongs to the photos the same character sent earlier. Because photos and clips are paid out of the same Diamond balance, you do not have to decide in advance on a tier that covers one and not the other. The style is photorealistic, not drawn.

Plays are the first real campaign format in this category

Plays are interactive stories with chapters, goals and a fixed host character, built by other users and findable through a leaderboard. For me as a game master this is the most interesting thing on the platform, because it solves the problem every long chat has: there is a structure both sides can fall back on. In Play Studio you write one by hand, have it generated from a premise or import a character card as JSON.

Did the character hold up?

I send one email a week: which AI character app has slipped on memory, where the prices have changed and which character really survived my three scenes. No hype, no daily mail.

Where Eternal AI frustrated me

Who this is not for: people who want one price and not four

Other articles sell Eternal AI as a refreshing alternative to subscriptions, and that is only true for the first purchase. Four counters stack up in the checkout: Diamonds for individual photo and video unlocks, gifts in four rarity tiers, premium chats and Plays, and on top of that per-character tiers billed weekly or monthly, which are also paid in Diamonds. The subscription has not gone away. It has only been translated into a currency whose exchange rate you have to keep in your head.

Who this is not for: people who build a character over months

Within a session Eternal AI remembers details reliably and picks them up again without being asked. Across a week the picture is uneven, and worse: there is no notes field and no memory panel you could use to help. Store reviewers describe the relationship level sliding back after a break, and the most detailed complaint on Google Play is about a character whose behavior flipped overnight for no visible reason. If a fact is meant to stay, you have to repeat it.

Who this is not for: people who want their money back

The pricing and refund rule is the strictest I have read this year: all payments non-refundable, Diamonds included, and explicitly also payments triggered by accident through a user's carelessness. Objections have to be raised in writing within thirty days, otherwise the charge counts as accepted. Unused Diamonds expire when the account is closed, liability is capped at one hundred US dollars, and disputes go to arbitration in Singapore.

Who this is not for: people who need clear legal pages

The web FAQ promises end-to-end encryption and a server that never reads your requests. The separate iOS privacy policy says conversation content is transmitted to and stored on the provider's systems and that there is no way to object to its use for model improvement. A server that does not read cannot answer; one of those two sentences is marketing. On top of that come three different company details across three countries and a content policy that still bans everything not family-friendly while the home page sells the opposite.

Who should actually use Eternal AI

Eternal AI is worth it for people who play in bursts: a few evenings a month, one character at a time, mostly text and the occasional image. For that pattern the platform really is cheap, and the questionnaire at the start saves you the half hour you would otherwise spend browsing. Anyone who also likes playing finished scenarios instead of open conversation finds something in the Plays that nobody else offers in this form.

My route would be: one free week, text only, the matched character and my three scenes. If the writing grabs you, buy the $9.99 pack and stick to individual unlocks instead of signing up for a per-character tier whose dollar price is published nowhere. Never leave a large Diamond balance sitting there, and buy through the App Store if you want to keep any chance of a reversal, because Apple's rules apply there instead of the in-house ones.

Eternal AI is not for you if you want the same character every day, remembering your month; there is no tool here for that. It is also not for you if you make media the main part of the evening, because then the total of tier, unlocks and gifts beats any flat price in the field. And if you want to build a character yourself with fine sliders, the Imagine builder is thinner than the alternatives in the table above.

Eternal AI in roleplay: what Lucy made of my three scenes

The questionnaire at the start is the real invention in this app. Six questions, no library, and then a character who is already standing in the middle of a situation and talking about something that just happened to her. As a game master I am used to handing a group a scene instead of spreading out a character selection, and that is exactly the blueprint Eternal AI picked: you walk into an evening already in progress.

In the tavern that was a clear advantage. The matched character had a topic, held it and asked me twice what I made of it, without tipping into the questionnaire routine that many companion apps sell as conversation. Messages arrive in several short bubbles, which hits the rhythm of a real conversation better than one paragraph at a time.

Where the interrogation shows the limits

My second scene is built to be uncomfortable: the character has to hold a position against me while I put her under systematic pressure. Here Eternal AI left the role twice, not through a filter but through tone. The character switched from dialogue into description, telling me what she felt instead of showing it in the interrogation. For people who would rather read than negotiate that is no problem; for hard exchanges it is one.

There is also a throttle that caught me off guard. If you write quickly, the character pauses with a cheerful note that this is going too fast and makes you wait. So unlimited text in a per-character tier does not mean unlimited per minute, and in a heated scene that wait tears the thread more visibly than any weakness in the model.

The quiet evening and the Imagine builder

The third scene is my favorite test: nothing happens, nobody has a goal, and it shows whether a character carries without a plot. Eternal AI came through that surprisingly well, because the characters bring small events of their own and do not wait for me to drive them. That is the 7 on conversation, and it is earned.

If you do not like the matched character, you build your own: the builder, called Imagine, lets you choose origin, eye color, hairstyle and body type. That is a looks editor, not a behavior editor, and a check from June 2026 found no behavior editor at all. If you expect sliders for attitude, pride and sloth, they are over at Nastia AI, and anyone who wants sliders for bearing and temperament has to go looking there.

Eternal AI experience: the memory test after seven days

On the first evening I always drop three details: my cat’s name, my job and one dislike. On day seven I ask about them by topic and not by date, because asking what happened last Tuesday fails on every platform. This time the job came back, the cat Pixel did not, and neither did the dislike.

Within a session the opposite is true. The character picks up a request from twenty messages ago, remembers a passing remark and builds it in, and in the tavern she even pointed out a contradiction in my own story. What is missing here is not the ability but the container: there is no field you write facts into so the character reads them along with every turn.

The relationship levels and why they fall back

Eternal AI runs a relationship progression with named levels that reaches something like soulmate status, and that display travels noticeably faster than the memory keeps up. The most helpful review in the App Store describes exactly that: after a longer break the status had gone back several steps, even though the top level had been reached. The sharpest complaint on Google Play reports a character whose morals and behavior flipped overnight, apparently without cause.

I experienced something similar, only milder: a character’s tone shifted between two sessions and I could not work out why. That is the real argument against a long campaign here. Not that the character forgets, but that you have no lever when she does.

What you can do anyway

Three things helped me. First: repeat the two or three facts that matter at the start of each session, in a single sentence that sounds like roleplay and not like a form. Second: play long sessions instead of many short ones, because within a session everything is right. Third: use a Play when you want structure, because a Play brings chapters and goals that do not slide out of the context.

Fourth, and this is the trick that helped most: write the important facts not as a notification but as a scene. A line like “Pixel blocked my keyboard again this morning” sticks far longer than the information that my cat is called Pixel, because it has a function in the conversation. At the gaming table it is the same rule: a player remembers what he lived through, not what was written on the character sheet.

If you do not want to do that work at all, you are better off at Nomi AI, where several memory layers handle it for you out of the box. That is the distance between a 6 and a 9 on this sub-score, and the main reason Eternal AI stays an app to visit for me and not one to move into.

Playing Eternal AI free: how far the free route gets you

Here Eternal AI is more honest than most. Without a card you get a daily text allowance with the matched character, and the first week with your first companion runs at premium level: unlimited text plus up to ten photos or two clips. That was enough for my three scenes, and I could have made the buying decision on that week alone.

On top of that comes the daily check-in, which pays out Diamonds simply because you opened the app, and double the amount in the mobile app. Photos can also be unlocked by sharing a link, one a day and three in total. That is the point where the gamified part starts to grate: you click past a reward screen to get into a conversation.

What the free route does not do: after the first week media are effectively closed, and the free Diamonds are enough for one photo, not for an evening with images. Anyone planning to use Eternal AI free as a permanent state gets a text chat with a daily ceiling and the occasional reward click. That is more than a demo account, but less than a plan you can live with. Where that leaves it in the field is in my comparison of the best AI character apps.

What Eternal AI really costs per month with Diamonds

The number in the advertising is $0.99, and it is real: sixty Diamonds, no subscription, no obligation. The number that lands on your statement hangs on four independent counters, and that is the core of this review. First, unlocks for individual photos and clips. Second, gifts in the Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary tiers, with possible rewards attached, which is a mechanic out of mobile games. Third, premium chats and Plays. Fourth, the per-character tiers.

Those tiers are called Sweet Start, Closer and Deep Connection, are billed weekly or monthly and are also paid in Diamonds, with twenty-five percent off the monthly variant. They promise unlimited text with that one character, voice messages and a photo and video allowance per period that rises with the tier. I could not find their dollar price on any public page; the only test that quotes figures prints them in Indian rupees on a weekly basis, and those are not small money.

How you play What you buy What realistically adds up per month
Occasional, text only nothing $0, with a daily ceiling
Two evenings a week, rarely an image a $0.99 or $9.99 pack under $10
One character daily, with photos and clips per-character tier plus top-ups open-ended, above any flat price in the field

Two things keep the total small, and both are rules of behavior rather than settings. First: buy the smallest pack that covers your next two evenings, not the one with the best bonus, because a large balance tempts you into spending and expires if you close the account. Second: skip the gifts. They cost Diamonds, promise possible rewards and change nothing about a scene that a good sentence could not do better.

From that follows a simple rule. As long as you spend Diamonds only on individual unlocks, Eternal AI is the cheapest way to play occasionally that I know. The moment a fixed character with regular media comes into it, you pay more than at SpicyChat with its fixed monthly price, and you get less memory for it. Payment runs by card through a processor, by Alipay or WeChat Pay, or in cryptocurrency through a connected wallet, including the in-house token.

The Eternal AI image generator, video and Plays

Media here are something a character offers you, not a generator you steer with prompts. A photo arrives as a private moment in the chat, the character describes it, and you unlock it for a Diamond price that only appears at that instant. A check from June 2026 quotes ten units per photo and fifty per clip; I cannot confirm that on any official page, and the move to Diamonds may have shifted those numbers.

Quality is photorealistic rather than drawn, and the face stays the same across several generations because the character comes with a fixed look. The video is the real surprise: short, genuinely animated clips with the same face as in the photos, on a platform whose entry costs less than almost all the others. Uploading your own images is restricted, and the content policy and the community guidelines ban material of identifiable real people for any kind of generation or character building. Anyone who comes to the Eternal AI image generator expecting a prompt box with full control will find a character handing out pictures instead.

Voice messages and the announced device

Voice here means voice message, listed as a benefit of the per-character tiers, plus voice recording for subscribers on supported characters from the second level up, according to the iOS release notes. There is no real-time call. What is announced instead is a voice device for the home, which requires a subscription with the voice feature. I have not tested it, and I would not buy first-generation companion hardware from a company that names three countries in three documents.

Why Plays are the most interesting part

Plays are user-built interactive stories with chapters, goals and a fixed host character, browsed through a leaderboard and played with Diamonds. For me this is the answer to the biggest problem long chats have: at some point the structure is gone and both sides improvise in circles. A Play hands you a scenario with a beginning and a goal, which is exactly what I prepare at the gaming table.

In Play Studio, eligible authors write one by hand, have it generated from a premise or import a character card as JSON, and they receive twenty percent of the subscription revenue attributed to their Plays. Authors can also sponsor free messages for players, at a stated rate of 0.08 Diamonds per message, which is the only published cost figure per message on the entire website. If the Character.AI alternatives you know felt too static, Plays are the reason to look in here.

The Eternal AI app, the stores and what it saves about you

Language works in the conversation and not in the interface. My characters answered in whatever language I wrote in, with decent sentence structure and without the English filler that cheaper models sprinkle in. The interface stays English: the version history in the App Store lists Chinese, French, Korean and Spanish for a June update and nothing else, and all the legal pages are available in English only.

The store record is mixed and explains a lot. On Google Play it is 3.1 stars from 202 reviews with over 10,000 installs and a 17+ rating, updated September 21, 2026. In the App Store it is 4.0 stars from 81 ratings with an 18+ rating and version 3.3.11, with a version history that started at 1.1.6 in January. Praise goes to the chat, the multi-part messages and the characters with a character of their own; complaints go to rewards you can only collect in the app, bonus tasks that rarely work, and exactly those overnight personality jumps. The Trustpilot profile was claimed in June 2026 and to this day has not a single review.

Who is behind it and where the data goes

The web terms of service name an Estonian company based in Tallinn. The Google Play listing names as developer a firm in Hong Kong with a Vietnamese phone number. The claimed Trustpilot profile gives the United States. Disputes go, under both versions of the terms, web and iOS, to arbitration in Singapore under Singapore law, after an informal phase of sixty days, with a class action waiver and a liability cap of one hundred US dollars.

What is collected is account data, messages and prompts, profile answers for the matchmaking, and images you upload as input. The web policy makes clear that no biometric identifiers or facial data are collected, which is worth something on a platform with image upload. Three well-known providers are named as processors for analytics and telemetry. The retention period in both policies is the usual as long as reasonably necessary, with no number; material changes to the web policy are announced thirty days in advance, and that is better than most.

Deleting, training and the contradiction that counts

Deleting the account is a button in the profile, with a note that everything is permanently gone. Two limits appear in the iOS policy: deleting the account does not end a subscription running through Apple, and clearing a conversation may not cover every server log, every stored media file, every derived context and every backup. That is fairly worded and more honest than much else on this website. Anyone looking for Eternal AI delete account instructions will find the button where it should be, under the profile.

The contradiction that bothers me is the one about encryption. The web FAQ claims end-to-end encryption and a server that never reads your requests. The platform’s own iOS policy says conversation content is transmitted to and stored on the provider’s systems for continuity and that there is currently no dedicated setting to exclude that content from model improvement or training. Both cannot be true. I treat the FAQ statement as advertising that slipped into a legal document, and that costs more in my privacy score than any single clause.

My practical advice is the same as everywhere: a separate email address, no real names and no places that identify you, no pictures of people you know, and purchases through the App Store as long as you want to keep a chance at a reversal. As a game master you have plenty of material in invented biographies anyway. This app does not need your real one.

Eternal AI: frequently asked questions

Is Eternal AI free?

Partly, and in exactly the right place. Text chat with the matched character is free from the start, the first week with your first companion runs at premium level with unlimited text and up to ten photos or two clips, and a daily check-in pushes Diamonds at you, twice as many in the app. You only need money for media, gifts and the per-character tiers. So anyone who wants to try Eternal AI free has a genuine week before the first counter starts running.

What are Diamonds and what do they cost?

Diamonds are the internal currency. They are sold in four packs, from $0.99 for 60 to $199.99 for 12,000, and the checkout code of the website works with forty Diamonds per dollar plus a bonus on the two large packs. They are spent on photo and video unlocks, gifts in four rarity tiers, premium chats, Plays and the per-character tiers. What a single action costs you only learn at the moment of spending; there is no published price list per action.

How good is the Eternal AI memory?

Good within a session, unreliable across a week. The character picks up earlier details in a running conversation without being asked, and the store texts promise long-term memory. In my test one of three details was left on day seven. On top of that there is neither a notes field nor a memory panel, so you cannot help it along, only repeat yourself. Reviewers also report the relationship level sliding back after a break.

Is Eternal AI really uncensored?

For roleplay between adult, fictional characters: yes. In my three scenes there was no block, no redirection and no lecture, and the community guidelines state in writing that adult content is allowed for users aged 18 and over and that artistic intent is not policed. The hard limits are the right ones: anything under 18, real identifiable people, missing consent and family relationships. An older content policy additionally bans everything not family-friendly, which obviously does not apply in the chat.

Which languages does Eternal AI speak?

The characters answer in the language you write in, and that is how I played the tavern and the quiet evening. The interface is a different story: the version history in the App Store lists Chinese, French, Korean and Spanish for the June update, and nothing else. So outside those languages you get roleplay in your own language inside an English interface, and the legal pages are available in English only.

Is there an Eternal AI app in the stores?

Yes, in both. For Android there is the listing by Eternal AI Limited, rated 17+, with over 10,000 installs and an average of 3.1 stars from 202 reviews, last updated September 21, 2026. For iOS there is version 3.3.11 with an 18+ rating and 4.0 stars from 81 ratings. Everything runs in the browser with no installation, but the daily reward is doubled in the app, and single photo unlocks push you there as well.

Do I get my money back at Eternal AI?

As a rule, no. The pricing and refund rule declares all payments final, names Diamonds and subscriptions explicitly and also excludes accidental payments made through carelessness. Exceptions are at the provider's discretion and, per the rule, set no precedent; objections have to arrive in writing within thirty days, and unused Diamonds expire with the account. For purchases through iOS, Apple's refund rules apply instead, and in practice that is the friendlier route.

Is Eternal AI safe and private?

Mixed, 5 out of 10 on the privacy part. Signing up takes an email address or an account with a provider, deleting is a button in the profile, and the web policy says no biometric data is collected. Against that stand a separate iOS policy that concedes training with no way to object, a retention period with no number, an encryption promise the same iOS policy contradicts, and three company details in three countries. Use a separate email address and keep real names out of the chat.

The verdict: is Eternal AI worth it?

Eternal AI gets 5.8 out of 10, so grade C−. Conversation sits at 7: the characters have a voice of their own, set their own pace and carry adult scenes through without interruption, but in the interrogation they slipped into narrator mode on me twice. Memory sits at 6, because everything is right within a session and two of three details were gone across the week, with no notes field to repair it. Pricing sits at 5: the $0.99 entry and the free text are honestly friendly, four stacked counters and a no-refund rule are not. Privacy sits at 5, because a real delete button and the refusal to collect biometric data stand against training with no opt-out, retention periods with no number, and an encryption promise that the platform's own second policy contradicts.

As a game master I take two things away. First: the matchmaking at the start and the Plays are good ideas I would like to see in an app with a calmer price model. Second: a platform without notes forces you to be the memory yourself, and that works worse in a chat than in a field the character reads along with every turn. Play the free week, decide after day seven, and if something is missing on that evening, the alternatives table says who delivers it.
