Verdict. Dream Companion is the app that puts the most screws in my hands as a game master: a builder with more than a hundred personality traits, three chat models, a slider for how much initiative the character takes, a choice between narration style and message style, and a memory window you can set as high as 800 messages. On top of that a registered Berlin company you can look up in the commercial register, and an annual plan that costs less per month than a cinema ticket. Against that, every image, every clip and every call minute runs through a coin called a Dream Coin, subscriptions are not refunded, and the tracker list in the privacy policy is long. Grade C+.

Of the apps I have played this year, My Dream Companion feels the most like preparation. Instead of pushing a finished character into the chat, Dream Companion lays out a workshop for me: personality traits in the three figures, hobbies, a wardrobe, plus the image prompt behind the character, which I can still edit before saving. For someone who has written character sheets for the gaming table for ten years, that is the most pleasant first evening an AI character app has given me in months.

The site is run by Miracle AI UG of Berlin, registered at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg, with a VAT ID and two named managing directors in the Impressum. In this category that is the exception, and it is the reason German consumer law and the GDPR are not just decoration here. Everything runs in the browser: there is no official Dream Companion app in the App Store or on Google Play, and the similarly named app from a different developer has nothing to do with this service.

I played my three fixed scenes, first with the free messages and then for one paid month of Premium at the monthly price: the tavern for loose conversation, the interrogation where the character has to hold a position against me, and the quiet evening where nothing happens on purpose. On the first evening I dropped three details, among them the name of my cat Pixel, and asked about them on day seven. Plus the terms of service, the privacy policy, the Impressum and the policy pages on mydreamcompanion.com.

All prices below are in US dollars, exactly as the subscription page bills them; what leaves your card in your own currency depends on your bank's daily rate and on sales tax. Checked on October 1, 2026, when the subscription page showed Premium on the annual plan at $69.99, which works out to about $5.84 a month. Everything I could not confirm on an official page is listed below as not confirmed, and with the coin prices that is more of it than I would like.

What is Dream Companion?

In one paragraph

Dream Companion, titled My Dream Companion on the site itself, is an AI character platform for adults only, run by Miracle AI UG (haftungsbeschränkt) based in Berlin. You chat with characters from a library or with characters you build yourself in a two-stage editor, and alongside that you generate images, video clips of five and ten seconds, audio messages and live voice calls. It runs exclusively in the browser at mydreamcompanion.com, on a phone through a bookmark on your home screen. Both paid plans include unlimited text messages; every media generation is billed in a currency called Dream Coins, of which Premium brings 100 and Ultimate 800 per month.

How I tested Dream Companion

I played Dream Companion by the same protocol as every app on this site. First the free messages with a character from the library, in the desktop browser and on the phone through the home-screen bookmark, because there is no store app. After that one month of Premium at the monthly price with my three scenes, once with a library character and once with one I built myself, plus the memory test on day seven and a run through the image generator, audio messages and a short call. Last the legal pages: terms of service, privacy policy, Impressum and the policy index.

  • Plans checked: Free and Premium monthly ($11.99) with my own card; Premium on the annual plan ($69.99) and both Ultimate variants taken from the subscription page
  • Free start: About 10 messages and free browsing of the whole library; one listing also mentions 30 starter coins, not officially confirmed
  • Three scenes: Tavern, interrogation, quiet evening, two sessions each, once with initiative set high and once set low on an identical profile
  • Memory test: Three details placed on the first evening (the cat's name, my job, one dislike), asked about on day seven in the same chat; all three came back
  • Tools checked: Quick mode and the detailed workshop in the character editor, the initiative slider, narration and message style, the memory window, the image generator, audio messages, one call
  • Documents read: Terms of service, privacy policy, Impressum and the policy index on mydreamcompanion.com
  • Not confirmed: The coin prices of individual actions and of the coin packs (from dated third-party reports, July 2026), whether unused coins expire, the coin price of the video sections, payment with cryptocurrencies

What Dream Companion gets right

The character editor is the best character sheet an app has given me

Dream Companion has two modes: a quick mode for a character in five minutes, and a detailed workshop where you set looks, wardrobe and personality in depth. Independent testers count more than 120 personality traits, 93 hobbies and 113 clothing options in there. The point that convinced me is a different one though: you see the image prompt behind your character and you can touch it before you save. Anyone used to writing a character at the gaming table rather than picking one is working with a tool here for the first time instead of with a menu.

The memory window is adjustable, and for a campaign that is everything

According to testers' reports the memory window can be set as high as 800 messages, and every twenty messages the system writes along a summary of the most important facts. Premium calls that standard memory, Ultimate an extended one. In my test all three planted details came back on day seven, including my cat's name, and in this price class that is rare. What matters to me is not the number but the fact that there is a window at all that I can turn up myself when a scene runs long.

The initiative slider and the narration style turn a chat into a scene

Two settings decide the evening here. Initiative runs from passive to very forward and determines how hard the character drives the story herself. The style switches between roleplay with longer descriptions and message style with short replies. In my tavern I set initiative high so the innkeeper would cut me off; in the quiet evening I set it all the way down so nothing would happen. The same tool, two completely different scenes, and not many apps have anything like it.

A registered Berlin company with an Impressum, a VAT ID and two managing directors

Behind Dream Companion stands Miracle AI UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Grolmanstraße 40 in Berlin, registered at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg under HRB 231497, with a published VAT ID and two named managing directors. That means German consumer law and the GDPR apply, the privacy policy lists your rights from access to deletion, and the card statement shows the billing name Miracle AI rather than the product name. If a footer with a first name and a post box has put you off until now, here you get an address you can write to.

Did the character hold up?

I send one email a week: which AI character app has slipped on memory, where the prices have changed and which character really survived my three scenes. No hype, no daily mail.

Where Dream Companion frustrated me

Who this is not for: people who need a fixed monthly total

Unlimited applies to text, and only with the standard models. Everything else runs on Dream Coins: at the rates reported in July 2026 an image costs 3 coins, a five-second clip 23, a ten-second one 43, a call minute 8, an audio message 1 and a character you build yourself 12 plus 3 for every newly generated image. Premium's 100 coins are therefore about 33 images or four short clips. The terms of service only name a range of 3 to 20 coins per use, older listings quote different rates, and the company tests its prices. So you cannot do clean math before you buy.

Who this is not for: people who buy the annual plan first

The refund rule in the terms of service is one line long: there is no money back for paid subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, the current period runs out without any pro-rata calculation, and an annual customer on Trustpilot who had lost interest got nothing back. In the EU you also have consumer rights, but I would not rely on them. Pay the first month at $11.99, and then your risk is one month instead of one year.

Who this is not for: people who are here for the conversation alone

My interrogation did not go well here. With initiative set high the character pushes the scene in the direction she likes instead of holding a position against me, and other users also report characters that press toward adult content faster than they wanted. On top of that come reports of repeated phrasing and slow replies. With initiative set low and message style on it gets noticeably better, but it stays a setting you have to find yourself, and that is why the conversation only gets a 6 from me.

Who this is not for: people who are sensitive about advertising trackers

The privacy policy I read on the official site discloses a long list of advertising and analytics tools, among them pixels from the big social networks, Google Analytics, an advertising network for adult advertising and a session-recording tool. Data is kept only as long as it is needed, with no fixed deadline, and interactions may be analyzed in anonymized or aggregated form to improve the AI, with no documented opt-out switch. That is what leaves a 5 on privacy at the end, Berlin register and GDPR rights notwithstanding.

Who should actually use Dream Companion

Dream Companion is worth it for people who want to write a character before they talk to her. If the difference between a menu and a character sheet means something to you, the workshop here is the strongest argument, and the initiative slider plus the choice of narration style give you more control over the tone of a scene than most competitors do. On top of that an adjustable memory window that held across seven days in my test.

This is how I would start: the roughly ten free messages to a character from the library, once with initiative high and once with it low, to check the tone. Then one month of Premium at the monthly price of $11.99, in which you spend the 100 coins plus the 100-coin first-month bonus on a few images, one short clip and a call minute. Only if you are still there after that month is the annual plan at $69.99 the right decision, and then it is a good price.

Dream Companion is not for you if media are your main reason: coins then decide the bill, not the plan, and there is no published price list per action. It is also not for you if you want a character who plays resistance without slider work, or if a long tracker list in the privacy policy bothers you. In those cases the table above says which app fits instead.

My Dream Companion in roleplay: three scenes with a character I built

For this review I built the same character I build everywhere: a customs officer with too many years of service, dry humor and a dislike of paperwork. In the workshop at Dream Companion that was for the first time more work than selection, and I mean that as praise. You set looks and wardrobe, pick from a three-figure number of personality traits, hang hobbies on them and at the end see the image prompt that all of it produces. You can touch that prompt before you save. For someone who writes character sheets at the gaming table, it is the most familiar workflow an app has offered me so far.

The tavern went well. With initiative set high the innkeeper talked over me, opened a thread of her own and held it even when I ignored it. In narration style the replies get longer and more descriptive, in message style short and fast, and both modes suit different evenings. Those two sliders are the real reason Dream Companion shows up in this comparison: they genuinely change what happens on the screen instead of just moving a label around.

The interrogation went less well, and it went wrong where it goes wrong in most apps. My customs officer was supposed to give me nothing until I had convinced her. With initiative high she took over the scene instead and offered me what I was supposed to earn. With initiative low she held her ground better but turned passive and waited for me. Finding the middle cost me two evenings, and that is work nobody does for you here. If you want behavior sliders that create resistance rather than just dampen it, you are better served at Nastia AI.

The quiet evening and the coin in the back of my mind

The quiet evening, my third scene, in which nothing happens on purpose, surprised me. With initiative on passive and narration style on, the character filled the empty space with an attitude of her own instead of interviewing me, and that is exactly the test. What spoiled the evening anyway was the coin meter in the back of my mind: every audio message, every image and every call minute costs Dream Coins, and I caught myself not asking for an audio message because I wanted to save the allowance for the clip. A scene in which you are doing arithmetic is no longer a scene.

How to write a character who carries these scenes is covered at length in the guide to creating your own AI character. The short version for Dream Companion: use the detailed workshop instead of quick mode, write five to eight concrete behaviors into it, and set initiative one step too low rather than too high, because the default pushes forward anyway.

The Dream Companion AI chat: three models, initiative and narration style

The Dream Companion AI chat is the part every paid plan covers, and it has more controls than most competitors. According to testers’ reports there are three models, Lite, Pro and Genius, with Genius charging 0.3 to 5 coins per message depending on how much memory it uses. So the unlimited text in the plan description applies to the standard models; the strongest model is a paid side route. That is cleanly solved as long as you know about it, and it is written nowhere prominent on the subscription page.

Then the two sliders from practice. Initiative runs from passive to very forward and decides how strongly the character opens threads of her own. The style switch alternates between roleplay with longer descriptions and message style with short replies. For adult scenes, the part people look up as Dream Companion AI NSFW, the platform is deliberately built open, as long as the content stays inside the published list of prohibitions, and users report that characters head in that direction quickly on their own. If you want a Dream Companion AI girlfriend who approaches slowly, initiative is the switch for it, and you set it before you write the first message.

What I missed in the conversation

Two things. First, there are no world notes and no lorebook where the places, rules and supporting characters of a campaign live; everything that is supposed to apply belongs in the character’s profile or in the running chat. Second, I found no group mode in which two of my characters talk to each other, and for me that is the moment you do roleplay for. How to plan a memory budget and a sequence of scenes anyway is something I wrote down in the guide to AI roleplay chat.

The library makes up for some of it with size. The number depends on your source: a survey from July 2026 arrives at a few hundred official and user-built characters, another tester at over a thousand, a third at a community collection in the five figures. The section for the best creators holds the user-built characters, which you can like, share and give coins to; before submitting, creators confirm the content rules, and moderation happens by humans and automated systems according to the policies. Browsing costs nothing, so look at the library before you use up your free messages.

Images, audio messages and calls in practice

The image generator works with menus instead of long prompts: you pick a character, then pose, clothing, background and style, and you may optionally write a text addition of your own. A dated test report measured about five seconds for an image and about a minute for a clip of five or ten seconds. In my month the results were usable and the character’s face stayed recognizable across several images as long as I stuck to the menus; with long free text it became arbitrary, and one reviewer on Trustpilot reports that the generator ignored their prompt. My advice: use the menus, go easy on free text, and pay for your first images with the bonus coins of the first month.

Every reply from the character can be played as an audio message, at the reported rates for one coin, though an earlier listing billed per playback, so check whether a second play charges again. Live calls start through a button on characters shown as available and cost a reported eight coins per minute. Verdicts on the voice diverge: one tester describes the calls as expressive, others hear a tinny machine voice. I was on the phone for exactly one minute and then stayed with text and audio messages, because one call minute is worth eight images, and for a scene eight images deliver more to me than a minute on the phone.

My memory test after seven days on My Dream Companion

This is where Dream Companion earned its best score. My test is always the same: three details dropped in passing on the first evening, a question about them on day seven in the same chat. This time it was the name of my cat Pixel, my job and a dislike of meetings before nine. On day seven all three came back, with no prompting and without me rebuilding the scene. That is the best result I have noted in this price class so far.

The construction explains it. Testers describe an adjustable memory window up to 800 messages and automatic summaries of the most important facts every twenty messages. That means the character works not just with the last few lines but with a running record, and that is exactly what you need for a campaign. Premium calls it standard memory, Ultimate an extended one; how many messages each of those actually holds is something the company does not publish, and that is why this sits at a 7 and not a 9.

Why other users report something different

The reports diverge, and that is one of the reasons for my caution. One tester found early details again even after three weeks, another watched them disappear after a day or two. From my own month I have a plausible explanation: the memory hangs on the chat. Anyone who starts several parallel conversations with the same character, or keeps trying new characters, scatters the record and gets exactly that second result.

My approach is therefore: one character, one long chat, the window turned up as far as the plan allows, and everything important written into the text early and in passing instead of being supplied later in lists. Anyone who wants a memory that works without that discipline gets it at Nomi AI with a system built for it, but pays more than double per month. And bear the side effect in mind: a large window makes the bill rise with the Genius model, because more memory in use means more coins per message there.

My Dream Companion pricing and Dream Coins: what a month of play costs

First the plans, because they are simple once you convert them. The subscription page shows monthly plans as a daily price: $0.40 a day for Premium, with $11.99 a month actually charged, and $1.50 a day for Ultimate, with $44.99 charged. The annual plans leave your card once up front: $69.99 for Premium, about $5.84 a month, and $299.88 for Ultimate, so about $24.99. A discount banner hangs above struck-through prices, and testers say it has been there for months. Read the sum that gets charged, not the daily number.

Both paid plans include unlimited text with the standard models, image and video generation, audio messages and live calls. Premium brings 100 Dream Coins a month, Ultimate 800, plus stronger models, a priority queue and longer clips. In the first month each plan adds a bonus equal to the monthly allowance, so your budget is twice as large at the start, which makes the test month pleasant and makes the bill from month two easy to underestimate.

The coin math, as far as it is public

Officially the terms of service name only a range: 3 to 20 coins per use. Everything more precise comes from dated third-party reports, and those contradict each other between months, because the company tests its prices. The rates from July 2026 look like this:

Action Dream Coins (July 2026, reported) Other published figure
Generate one image 3 5 (earlier 2026 listings)
Clip, five seconds 23 20 per clip (earlier 2026 listings)
Clip, ten seconds 43 not stated
Live call 8 per minute not stated
Audio message 1 2.8 per playback (earlier listing)
Create your own character 12, plus 3 per newly generated image 20 (2025 report)
Message with the Genius model 0.3 to 5, depending on how much memory runs along not stated

Out of that comes the sentence you need before you buy: Premium’s 100 coins are about 33 images, or four short clips, or roughly twelve call minutes. Ultimate’s 800 coins are eight times that. Anyone who only writes stays at about $5.84 a month with Premium on the annual plan, without ever buying more. Anyone who generates images every few days adds a pack of 100 coins for $9.99 and lands at about $15.82 a month. Anyone who wants a clip on most days does better with Ultimate than with packs, because 800 included coins for $24.99 a month sit well below the pack price for the same amount. Whether unused coins expire is something I found in no source.

Two things I would want to know beforehand. First: subscriptions are not refunded under the terms of service, and cancelling only stops the renewal. Second: the newer video sections, where AI characters appear as a running stream and react to coin gifts, publish no per-minute price that I could find. Check it on screen before you start, or your allowance will look different after ten minutes than you planned. For a comparison with the whole field, my ranking of AI character apps helps.

The My Dream Companion app, login and mydreamcompanion.com: the practical part

Home for the service is mydreamcompanion.com, and the login works only there. Alongside it there is a marketing site at dreamcompanion.io whose footer names the same company and which points at the same offer. Other addresses carrying the brand name are not part of it: a variant ending in .org publishes its own outdated price list, and the .ai address was a parked domain when a security service checked it in March 2026. Bookmark the official address once and the question settles itself.

In the Apple and Google stores you will find no Dream Companion app, which is the normal case for adult services, because the stores restrict such content. Instead it runs as a web app that you put on your home screen through the browser menu; after that it opens like an app, and chats and generated media stay in sync between laptop and phone, because everything hangs on the account. In the App Store you will find an app from a different developer under a similar name: separate account, its own prices, its own privacy terms, no access to your characters here.

The login itself is short. Open the page, confirm at the age gate that you are over 18, register with an email address, and you land in the library. A practical touch is that according to testers the character editor can be started before you register, so you can look at the workshop before you hand over anything. For account and billing questions there is a support address in the footer, plus an invitation to the provider’s Discord, where new features are announced.

Is My Dream Companion safe? A Berlin company, data and payment

The operator is this platform’s strongest argument. Miracle AI UG (haftungsbeschränkt) sits at Grolmanstraße 40 in Berlin, registered at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg under HRB 231497, with a published VAT ID and two named managing directors; register data quoted by one tester shows an earlier company name. The same company appears in the footer of the marketing site and in the team’s replies on Trustpilot. So you know who gets your money and which law applies, and in this category that is rare enough to mention.

The privacy policy, read on the official site, covers your email address, payment data, chat history and usage data. Interactions may be analyzed in anonymized or aggregated form to improve the AI, and I found no documented opt-out switch for it. Data is kept as long as it is needed, with no fixed deadline. Your GDPR rights are listed, including deletion by email with an answer within one month. Also disclosed is a long list of advertising and analytics tools, from social network pixels through an advertising network for adult advertising to a session-recording tool. Encryption is claimed but not explained; no data breach was known as of May 2026.

Age checks, content rules and the small print

In front of every page sits an 18+ age gate with self-declaration. Further in, the policies name a specific service provider for identity verification that may require an ID document and a face match from individual users; according to the company, only the result of that check is stored. For content there is a hard line at minors, narrated or drawn included, with account suspension and a report to the responsible authority, and there is a separate section on trademark and personality rights. The policy index lists a good dozen pages from the terms to the complaints procedure, which I read as a good sign: anyone who publishes that much has thought about the rules.

Payment, according to testers, runs through a large payment provider with the usual cards plus Apple Pay and Google Pay; payment by cryptocurrency is something I did not get confirmed. The statement shows the billing name Miracle AI, not the product name. Plans renew automatically, cancelling in the settings stops the next renewal, and the terms secure the company broad usage rights to everything you submit or generate there. Together with the no-refund rule that means: first month monthly, and the annual decision only after that.

On reputation there is little to say, and that is itself a piece of information. At the end of May 2026 there were five ratings on Trustpilot, too few for a score, and the complaints repeat the familiar themes: coins running out, slow replies, repeated phrasing, characters pressing too fast, and an image generator that ignored a prompt. An independent test report that searched the big forums in August 2026 found almost no organic discussion of the platform. A small trail does not mean a bad product, but it does mean you cannot check your experience against the crowd. Anyone who wants an app with a large community and plenty of shared experience will more likely find it among the Character.AI alternatives; anyone who wants a workshop and a bill with an Impressum behind it is in the right place here.

Dream Companion: frequently asked questions

What is My Dream Companion?

Dream Companion, titled My Dream Companion on the site itself, is an 18+ AI character platform where you chat with characters from a library or with ones you build yourself and generate images, short video clips, audio messages and live calls alongside. It is run by Miracle AI UG in Berlin, it runs in the browser only, and the plans range from $0 to $44.99 a month. Its strength is the character editor, its weakness the way media are billed in coins.

Is Dream Companion free?

Partly. Browsing the whole library costs nothing, and you can send about ten messages; one listing also mentions 30 starter coins, which I could not confirm officially. Images, clips and calls need a paid plan. For the question of whether the tone and style of the characters suit you, the free start is enough; for a judgment on memory and the workshop it is not.

What does Dream Companion really cost per month?

Premium costs $11.99 a month or $69.99 once a year, which works out to about $5.84 a month; Ultimate costs $44.99 a month or $299.88 a year, so about $24.99 a month. Anyone who only writes stays at that number, because text with the standard models is unlimited. Anyone who generates images regularly buys coins on top: Premium on the annual plan plus a pack of 100 coins works out to about $15.82 a month.

What do I need Dream Coins for?

Dream Coins are the billing unit for everything generated. At the rates reported in July 2026 an image costs 3 coins, a five-second clip 23, a ten-second one 43, a call minute 8, an audio message 1 and a character you build yourself 12 plus 3 per newly generated image; the Genius model charges 0.3 to 5 per message. Premium brings 100 coins a month, Ultimate 800, and packs start at 100 coins for $9.99. Officially the terms of service only name a range of 3 to 20 coins per use.

How good is the Dream Companion memory?

Good in my test. Testers report an adjustable memory window up to 800 messages and automatic summaries every twenty messages, and on day seven all three planted details came back for me. Other users' reports diverge: one found early details again after three weeks, another watched them disappear after two days. Stay in one long chat per character and turn the window up as far as your plan allows.

Is there a Dream Companion app?

No, not from this provider. The service runs in the browser, on a computer as on a phone; through the browser menu mydreamcompanion.com lands on your home screen as a bookmark and then opens like an app. The App Store listing with a similar name comes from a different developer and is not this service: separate account, its own prices, its own privacy terms. A genuine app would name Miracle AI as the developer.

Is Dream Companion safe and legitimate?

Legitimate yes, on privacy with deductions. The operator is a registered Berlin company with an Impressum, a commercial register number and a VAT ID, the statement shows the billing name Miracle AI, and the privacy policy names your GDPR rights including deletion with an answer within one month. Against that stand a long list of advertising and analytics tools, no fixed retention period and no documented objection to the analysis used to improve the AI. Use a dedicated email address and no real names in chats.

Can I get a refund from Dream Companion?

According to the terms of service, no: there is no refund for paid subscriptions. Cancelling in the settings stops the renewal, and the paid period runs out without any pro-rata calculation. In the EU consumer rights may help you on top, but I would not plan around that. So start monthly: then at most one month at $11.99 is at risk instead of an annual amount.

The verdict: is Dream Companion worth it?

Dream Companion gets 6.1 out of 10, so grade C+. Memory sits at 7: an adjustable window, running summaries and three out of three details on day seven, set against the fact that the company does not publish how large standard and extended memory actually are, and that other users report worse experiences. Conversation sits at 6: excellent controls, but a character who gives in during the interrogation, reports of repetition and a default setting that escalates too fast. Pricing honesty sits at 6: $69.99 a year for unlimited text is cheap, the coin meter and the no-refund rule are not. Privacy sits at 5: a Berlin register entry and GDPR rights against a long tracker list, no fixed retention period and no opt-out switch.

My route would be: ten free messages to test the tone, one month of Premium at the monthly price to use the workshop and the memory seriously, and the annual plan only after that. Keep your coin purchases at zero in the first month and see whether text alone is enough for you; if it is, this is one of the cheapest apps with a builder worth taking seriously. If you notice that you want a clip every evening, work Ultimate out against coin packs, because 800 included coins are cheaper than the same amount bought in packs.

I pay for every subscription myself, play the same three scenes everywhere and check the memory after a week. If you want to see the whole field first, start with the ranking.

I ran tabletop roleplaying groups for ten years and moderated a roleplay forum before I started testing AI character apps by the same standards in 2023. I pay for every subscription myself, play through the same three scenes and grade on a fixed scheme. About the author
